2008 Campaign a HUGE Success!
25 March 2008
Over 30 schools and community groups help thousands of people with much needed food!
Imagine…thousands of people are about to receive food as a result of caring people who contributed in this year’s campaign.
- Local community food banks have their shelves filled with nutritious rice and canned food. This will go a long way to helping community people in need.
Through the funds that were collected:
- Orphanage caregivers in the Ukraine can now focus on loving and caring for the children since they won’t have to have worry about where the food will come from for the next several months.
- School children in Sierra Leone will receive a lunch meal and nutritious snacks daily, plus they can learn from their school’s new garden which will soon be sprouting fresh vegetables.
- For families in Kenya that had to flee their homes during the uprising in January, the month’s supply of food that they will receive will help them pour their energies into rebuilding their homes and lives.
- Rice planters/harvesters in Bangladesh will have a means to ensure food during Monga season (annual time of near famine) thanks to the agricultural micro-enterprise projects that have now been made available to them.
As one student put it: This is a great way to have our school’s youth participate in an event to help out our community and the rest of the world! It provides a balance between local and foreign aid.
