Act locally. Act Globally.
The Rice Raiser Campaign
The Rice Raiser is a youth mobilized community event designed to feed people locally and globally at the same time.
You are invited to help feed the hungry in your neighbourhood and in your world!
Combining education with action:
The campaign is a focused project over the month of February that runs through schools from preschool level to post secondary. Information about global hunger is provided and students are encouraged to challenge their communities to respond to the needs by donating rice and or funds.
All the rice that is collected stays in the community and helps feed hungry people through the food banks. All the cash that is donated is sent to four different developing countries to help hungry people globally. Students learn that hunger occurs for different reasons and that it is indeed global, even in their own part of the world.
The Rice Raiser Campaign is a Hunger Response International initiative and partners with other organizations that are involved in relief and development internationally. This demonstrates that hunger cannot be solved by one group of people or one organization, but requires the combined efforts of all of us together to see hunger changed.

I didn’t realize how many people actually die every day from hunger, a lot of which are children.
Through the Rice Raiser Campaign, students have learned about the sad realities of hunger and they have responded.
This opportunity for giving will make a difference to our world, both on the local level and on the global level.
Every year millions of people die from hunger related diseases. The terrible truth is, that over 852 million people suffer hunger related illnesses when we have the ability to produce sufficient food to feed every person alive on the planet.
It’s time to work together to change things. Your help can make a difference!
