How the Rice Raiser works

From February 1 – February 29, 2008, students commit to collecting packaged bags of rice and cash funds. The two go hand in hand. All the rice they collect will be distributed to local people in need through the food bank in their community. All the cash money they raise will be sent to developing nations through registered charities and will be used to purchase emergency food, or things needed to produce food for the hungry.

Three ways you can respond:

  1. You donate packaged rice.
  2. You give a lump sum of money to purchase rice.
  3. You sponsor a student for every kilogram he or she is able to collect.

Example: student collects 20 kg and you sponsor them for $1.00 per kg. That would amount to your pledge being $20.00 and so forth.

The choice is yours; however you decide to respond, you will be helping to provide rice to feed the hungry.

Are you a teacher?

If you are a teacher and would like to see your students participate in helping to feed the poor through the Rice Raiser please contact us. Together we can educate our youth about the facts on global hunger and participate in helping make positive changes for thousands of people.

Do you own a business?

Invite your employees to participate in the Rice Raiser. Challenge them to collect packages of rice and have your business match the number of kilograms collected with cash. Remember, the rice will go to feed people locally in your community and the cash will be sent to developing countries to help feed the hungry there.
