The Rice Raiser
The Rice Raiser is a food drive / fund raiser designed to feed the poor both locally and internationally at the same time. This innovative project is beginning in Canada, but is also available to our friends in the USA any country that would like to participate in the Rice Raiser to help eradicate hunger throughout the world.
Here’s how it works
Students commit to collecting packaged bags of rice and funds. The two go hand in hand. All the rice they collect will be distributed to local people in need through the food bank in their community. All the cash money they raise will be sent to developing nations through registered charities and will be used to purchase emergency food or things needed to produce food for the hungry.
Three ways you can respond:
- You donate packaged rice.
- You give a lump sum of money.
- You sponsor a student for every kilogram he or she is able to collect.
Example: student collects 20 kg and you sponsor them for $1.00 per kg. That would amount to your pledge being $20.00 and so forth.
The choice is yours; to help feed people in our own community or internationally, in developing countries…or you can do both. However you decide to respond, you will be helping people receive their most basic need…food.
